If you are in the Long Beach area today... go check out Graffiti Beach at the Maya Hotel.  When you are there make sure you check out Le Modern Trinket! She has amazing vintage hand made eclectic jewelry!

Here is a little something on Graffiti Beach :

POP-UP DEFINED
A temporary retail store that 'Pops Up' one day and then dissappears within the next 2 to 5 days.  Graffiti Beach chooses 30 to 50 vendors to sell their merchandise in booths at a great venue, typically an art gallery, on a college campus, in a vacant retail space, or in a lifestyle shopping center. The vendors sell their product at wholesale prices directly to the public.

MISSION
The mission of Graffiti Beach is to create a place for those that are passionate about art, fashion and music to gather and feel inspired. It supports up-and-coming designers and artists in making a living and gives them an outlet to share their masterpieces with the world.

CONCEPT
The concept of the 'Graffiti Beach POP-UP Store' is to allow designers and artists to sell their merchandise to the public in several different markets at low-cost and low-risk.

BENEFITS
*All products are available to the public at 50 to 70% off the retail price.
*Landlords struggling with leasing can bring in revenue while they are in between residents.
*Artists and Designers are hand selected to assure their designs provide an urban and electic look.
*Up-and-Coming artists and designers have an outlet to get their product in the public eye.

Hope to see everyone there!

Mustachio strikes Santa Ana

MUSTACHIO

I got the pleasure of meeting Cody "Mustachio" Lusby last night while visiting the Art from the Hive Gallery for the monthly Santa Ana Art Walk.  I must say Here at Unseen Beauty love meeting and chatting it up with people like Cody.  Mustachio started telling me about his "process"  and it is a great one I feel.  He just gets inspired by whatever he sees and starts going at the canvas (which at this show was an old table top, some street signs, and what looked to be like an old pattern). He really doesn't know what the main feature of the painting will be until he has finished that background and then he just sits back and stares.  He waits until he sees something in the painting and then he goes for it.  With this he said he can enjoy the painting and the process of painting.  I could of sat and stared at His work for hours and found a thousand more things in the background... good work.

One image I am bummed I didn't take a snap shot of was the Mustache labeled wine bottles.  As you can tell from the photo above, Mustachio has a mean Mo.

We hope to be doing some collaborations with Mustachio in the near future.  Get ready.
