Amazingly talented artist Jeff Soto has a couple charity auctions taking place and we would like to do our part and spread the word.  First one is for the Brush Project.  Jeff has donated some of his used brushes and a doodle or two, You can take a peek and bid on them Brush Set No. 1 and Brush Set No. 2.

Jeff's second auction is for Scion Artworks... You can check out this piece that was created for the 2008-09 Scion Installation 5 Art Tour : Self Portrait.  Bid away.

If you get a chance to take a look at Jeff's work up for auction, don't forget to poke around at all the other art up for auction.  These artists are doing a great thing and we support them for doing what they love to do and having it help others.

Thank you to the donating artists.

Sleepers : Mark Jenkins

At it again, Mark Jenkins newest exhibition "Sleepers" sponsered by the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art seems to be stirring up some police action. The Winston-Salem journal reported that police had acted on a call of a body laying on a billboard.  Needless to say they were not amused when they came to find out it was just a mannequin.  Total viewing time as about 20 minutes.  "There will be more,"  announced Ellen Wallace the marketing and communications manager for SECCA.   Lets hope they stay up a little longer next time around. SECCA promised to give local authorities a little more of a heads up on the project.

We really enjoy what Mark Jenkins is up to.  He is bringing his ideas to people and not waiting for them to come to him.  He is forcing people to take a look and hopefully think outside their boxes.  Keep up the good work Mark.

Please take a few seconds to enjoy what he has done.  Mark Jenkins

Jeff Gros

Good friend and even better photographer Jeff Gros is the perfect representation of Unseen Beauty... and I don't mean him personally.  I am talking about how he is able to see things in a different way than most others.  The picture above is a perfect example of this.  Most would look at this and just see a pile of old dirty mags and not think twice about it... Not Jeff, he sees the mess of pages and colors as art, simple as that.  He looks at if different.  This is one of our favorite albums titled: "be he king or peasant"

Thank you Mr. Gros for a look into your way of seeing the world.

Hopefully we can butter you up enough to do a little co-op with us.

apologies to all...

We are saying sorry because we are having some server problems and are not able to upload images... go figure a website that is all about seeing things different, can't upload images.  Don't fear though we have people working on it as we type.  So just image an image of some raggidy room filled with old magazines and what not that was shot at the right angle with the right eye and we promise to deliver one as soon as IT lets us.

In the mean time we have some news for you.  We just got just word that Matt Jenkins... good friend / artist / car enthusiast has entered the Targa Trophy and he is going to be supporting Unseen Beauty on the sides of his stealth machine this weekend.  We made Matt promise to send us some snapshots of the race and he agreed. So we will be updating you guys as soon as we get them.

Since we can't show you any thing here at the moment we figured that we would at least point you in the right direction... Here are some videos that we hope quench your visual thirst for a bit.

David Choe: Whales And Orgies... back in the day

Hope those will tide you over for now... hopefully we will back and running in the morning.

INSTANT GRATIFICATION show coming soon

And you thought Polaroids where dead...  A great show is coming to Los Angeles this January.  Instant Gratification is coming to Santa Monica at the Corpo Gallery Jan. 9th and you can count on it that Unseen Beauty will be there.  We are a fan of the good 'ole Polaroid and still have a couple packs of film sitting in our office, just waiting for that perfect polaroid moment.  The nice thing about polaroids are that any moment looks better by looking worse with these primitive yet amazing machines...

True art.

ISM is still looking for more submissions, so hit them up and hopefully you can get your moments up on the wall.  submit submissions here

Sea No Evil Art Show 2009

A couple weeks ago a few of us headed down to Riverside to check out the Sea No Evil art show.  The show is to support and raise money for the Sea Shepherd organization... Most people will know this name from a great show called "Whale Wars" on animal planet, one of my favs.

Many great artists donated work for this silent auction, some of the artists that showed:

Dave Kinsey
Shepard Fairey
Lola
Tim Biskup
Madsteez
Jeff Soto
and many more...

I took a couple snap shots of the amazing show. enjoy

While at the show I got the thrill of picking up a limit edition Kinsey print.
