Greek Street by Vhils

As I was roaming around my feeds on the web I came across a great piece on Wooster Collective.  It is a collaboration with Vhils and JR down in LA.  At first I was like, ok that is pretty rad... but after further investigation I noticed that the face is actually cut out of the wall.  I haven't seen Vhils work before so I jumped over to his site and my jaw dropped.  Such a great way to work with things that are already out there, turning old walls into art.  Vhils is now one of UB's favorites, Good work.

Pop-up in Long Beach

Thumbnail image for Le Modern Trinket at Graffiti Beach Long Beach

If you are in the Long Beach area today... go check out Graffiti Beach at the Maya Hotel.  When you are there make sure you check out Le Modern Trinket! She has amazing vintage hand made eclectic jewelry!

Here is a little something on Graffiti Beach :

POP-UP DEFINED
A temporary retail store that 'Pops Up' one day and then dissappears within the next 2 to 5 days.  Graffiti Beach chooses 30 to 50 vendors to sell their merchandise in booths at a great venue, typically an art gallery, on a college campus, in a vacant retail space, or in a lifestyle shopping center. The vendors sell their product at wholesale prices directly to the public.

MISSION
The mission of Graffiti Beach is to create a place for those that are passionate about art, fashion and music to gather and feel inspired. It supports up-and-coming designers and artists in making a living and gives them an outlet to share their masterpieces with the world.

CONCEPT
The concept of the 'Graffiti Beach POP-UP Store' is to allow designers and artists to sell their merchandise to the public in several different markets at low-cost and low-risk.

BENEFITS
*All products are available to the public at 50 to 70% off the retail price.
*Landlords struggling with leasing can bring in revenue while they are in between residents.
*Artists and Designers are hand selected to assure their designs provide an urban and electic look.
*Up-and-Coming artists and designers have an outlet to get their product in the public eye.

Hope to see everyone there!

Jeff Gros sees beauty
This great photo above is from our friend Jeff Gros.  This just popped up on his facebook the other day.  He found some old polaroid film and decided to take some shots throughout the summer.  The above image is one of my favorite shots and pretty much everything Unseen Beauty stands for.  Check out Jeff's blog to see some of the adventures he goes on... Homophobes are gay : Tyler Alexander

A little something from Tyler about his shirt : "The deal with the shirt is the whole concept is if you hate so much you got something to hide... And "HomoPhobesAreGay" I think is a subtle way of calling those people out. Producing this shirt is my way of showing my appreciation for the gay community and supporting equality. The feed back has been incredible and I'm really proud of this piece. I hope you enjoy the shirt as much as my friends from around the world have."

To pick up one of these shirts just click over to the store.

Wedding

So we where just told that an old friend of ours is in the "Ultimate Wedding" contest for Crate&Barrel.  Could go on and on about his their story, but I think his Fiance explains it better.

Here is Their story :

Our love story.

We (Cristina + Danny) met in college and fell in love. Life was going perfectly but things took a difficult turn. I (Danny) started getting crazy symptoms; three days later I went paralyzed. I was diagnosed with a very rapid growing cancer and needed surgery right away. I lived in the hospital for months. She would drive over an hour everyday to see me. After 9 months of chemo and another 2 years for me to relearn how to walk, I asked her to marry me with a ring I made myself. We're so excited to get married!

Three important details about our Ultimate Wedding.

#1 - We want our wedding to represent "us" - not the formal, over-the-top, extravagant version people feel is necessary at weddings - we want to show the couple that loves picnics, bbq's, Mexican food, dance parties, and s'mores. #2 - I (Cristina) am a designer and it's important for me to make my own wedding dress. #3 - We want to represent our artistic side (we're both designers) through an eclectic gathering of mismatched colors and designs that will create their own harmony and add uniqueness to our wedding; just like us (and our guests!)

Our everyday dream day.

Our everyday dream day is pretty much every day that we get to spend together. I (Cristina) almost lost Danny to cancer so we have realized that every moment that we get to spent together is incredibly special. We treasure even the mundane moments - grocery shopping is an adventure to us! Being with each other, our families, and friends are the days that we cherish most. But since we love traveling those days that we wake up in another country seeing a new site and culture is an extra special dream day.

Please take the time to vote and pass it on to anyone you know.  This could really change someone's life and we love being a part of that and you will too!

JERM IX

JERM IV

I was catching up the other day on the Wooster Collective page  and they had a little thing of JERM IX.  I took a look and was amazed, so simple but it really has some impact.  Here is a little bio I snagged from his Blogger

JERM IX : jerm IX is a street artist, poet, emcee, and activist. he is also the CEO of Jerm Inc., a fake, non-existent company that specializes in urban thought provocation and public space reclamation. "jerm is micromanaging disturbing hyped up fantasies, he's a man of kin, a mannequin, he's manic and he's panicking..." he whispered over my shoulder as I sat down to write this bio. in the last 4 years, along with his wife ninja IX, he has pasted thousands of his annotated 'jermalism' messages, direct quotes, and scrolls around the city of Vancouver, Canada.

You can read more about him on his page.  Take a look at a couple more of my favorite scrolls.
